The members of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Commission on environmental issues and agriculture made certain that the Armenian atomic power station is secure. Chairman of the Republic of Armenia permanent parliamentary commission on health, ecology and social problems Gagik Tadevosian reported it while commenting on the results of the PACE commission Yerevan session June 13-15. He noted that the commission members made sure that there was no radioactive background at the station. “Having visited the site where radioactive substances are buried, the European parliamentarians made certain that Azerbaijan’s statements about insufficient level of the Armenian atomic plant security were groundless,” – Tadevosian said. He noted that the disputes over closing the station are more of “economic-political than ecological nature.”
