The stability of the situation in the South Caucasus is threatened with the political and economic repression of minority groups in the region. As «Arminfo» agency reports, this is stated in the report of the International group for rights of minority groups that has recently conducted studies in the region countries. As the reports states, the representatives of ethnic minority groups in this region are deprived of opportunities to have profession and to participate in the political life of these countries. According to head of the group Mark Lattimier, the situation becomes tense especially in Azerbaijan and Georgia. The problem, according to him, has been made worse with the actions of Russia against the Chechen illegal military units and actions of the US against the Islamic terrorism in the region. He emphasized the need to draw the attention of the international community to the problems of the South Caucasian region. According to him, the actions for the increase of the security in one country, if they are organized in a «wrong» way, might influence the stability of the regional situation in general.
