Armenia participates in NATO exercises started today in Georgia within the framework of «Partnership for Peace» program. These are the first exercises with the participation of the Armenian armed forces personnel, which will last until the end of June. Joint movements during peacekeeping operations will be worked out. 6 NATO member countries – Canada, Greece, Hungary, Turkey, Great Britain and USA, as well as 9 partner states – Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine take part in the exercises. As reported by the Republic of Armenia Defense Ministry press service, such field exercises aimed at increasing the efficiency of interaction between NATO and partner countries are annually held in the South Caucasus region. Let us note that the next military exercises planned in 2003 will be held in Armenia.
