Aram Sargsyan, leader of the Republic Party, expressed on his Facebook page that U.S. President Donald Trump will not permit any attacks on Armenia’s sovereign territory.
He stated that U.S. and Armenian regional interests align and that Armenia is an important part of the Christian brotherhood.
"Aliyev frequently calls the previous Democratic administration of the U.S. ‘ungrateful’ and praises the newly elected president and the Republican majority in every possible way. This is undoubtedly beneficial, as Aliyev harbors open hopes of finding common ground with the new administration, which means he is unlikely to act recklessly.
For me, it is clear that Trump and his Republican administration will not approve any attacks on Armenia’s sovereign territory. This is not only because Trump was elected on promises of peace, because U.S. and Armenian regional interests align, and because Armenia is the first nation to adopt Christianity as its state religion and part of the Christian brotherhood, but also because Armenia has become a strategic partner of the U.S. and aims to become a future U.S. ally and EU member."
Donald Trump was inaugurated as U.S. President on January 20.
