Andranik Kocharyan, chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security, emphasized the importance of special forces during an interview with reporters at Yerablur. Speaking about the ongoing military reform programs, Kocharyan highlighted the pivotal role of special-purpose units, Armenpress reports.
“Modern armies operate based on the logic of special-purpose units, regardless of their size or scale,” he stated.
“These are small units designed to solve major challenges. This means you need modern weaponry and military personnel with the expertise to use it effectively. That is our goal and our policy, which we are implementing step by step,” Kocharyan said.
He acknowledged that the process is complex but essential for increasing the efficiency and modernization of Armenia’s armed forces.
January 28 marks the 33rd anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces.
