Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has outlined the principles of the "Real Armenia" ideology, emphasizing the importance of adopting a new constitution.
He stated that the adoption of a new constitution through a nationwide referendum is essential.
“The homeland is one of the most sacred concepts in Armenian linguistic thought, yet it is not linked to a system of rights and obligations. According to the Real Armenia ideology, the homeland is identified with the internationally recognized state of Armenia. The state is seen as an inseparable part of the homeland, and patriotism aligns with its interests and legal framework,” he said.
According to him, within this approach, “citizens must recognize not only their foundational role in the establishment of the state but also their responsibility in upholding constitutional order.”
The prime minister stressed that adopting a new constitution through a nationwide referendum is “crucial, as past referendums suffer from a significant lack of legitimacy in public perception.”
Pashinyan noted that the primary goal of the new constitution is to move away from the "residual practices of a stateless nation" and establish the "operational framework of a state-building people", based on constitutional solidarity and democratic participation.
