The Armenian government has approved amendments to the Treaty on Interstate Search of Persons among CIS member states.
The existing agreement stipulates that inquiries should be transmitted electronically, but clear mechanisms for cooperation have not yet been defined. The proposed changes will enable the competent authorities of CIS countries to use electronic copies of documents created by scanning or photographing paper originals within the framework of information exchange.
The Constitutional Court must assess whether the treaty's obligations comply with Armenia’s Constitution. If the court issues a positive conclusion, the draft will be submitted to the National Assembly for approval.
The treaty was ratified on December 10, 2010, in Moscow, while its amendments were signed on October 8, 2024. The protocol is subject to ratification.
