Defense Ministry: no shots fired by Armenian forces

Armenia’s Ministry of Defense has dismissed the latest disinformation from Azerbaijan’s military authorities, which alleged that on March 17, between 17:25 and 21:45, Armenian armed forces fired on Azerbaijani positions located in the eastern and southeastern border regions. The ministry stated that these claims are false.

The ministry recalled that the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office had previously proposed the establishment of a joint Armenia-Azerbaijan mechanism to investigate ceasefire violations and related reports. However, according to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Azerbaijan has yet to respond to this proposal.

The ministry emphasized that, in line with the Prime Minister’s Office’s position, the Armenian side is willing to examine the data presented by Azerbaijan’s defense ministry if it is officially provided to Armenia.

This marks the second instance of Azerbaijani disinformation on March 17.

On March 16, Armenia’s defense ministry denied three consecutive disinformation claims from Azerbaijan’s defense ministry. Meanwhile, the EU monitoring mission assessed the situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border as calm, noting no unusual activity.
