Over 78% residents of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic are for the peaceful settlement of the Azeri-Karabakh conflict. About 20% preferring the peaceful settlement think military settlement is also possible if the peaceful way has no results. This is the information according to the poll conducted by the Stepanakert press-club and Yerevan Center of social technologies with the assistance of Frederic Ebert fund from March 15 to April 15, 2002. As “De-Facto” agency reports, 48.6% of villagers and 37% of Stepanakert residents are for independent NKR. 55.2% of people in Stepanakert participating in the poll are for Nagorno-Karabakh’s joining Armenia (43% in villages). Other variants are rejected completely. The negotiation process in the Armenian-Azerbaijan-Nagorno-Karabakh format is attractive for 57.3% of people participating in the poll. There are not any similar answers about the terms of the conflict settlement. 19.1% of people think the issue might be settled during 1-2 years, 15.8% think the decision will be reached during over 10 years, 13-14% mention other terms. 21.6% of people participated in the poll think “Dashnaktyutyun” and 14.6% think communists are the most influential political parties in NKR. “Democratic Artsakh” Union is on the third place with 11.4%. Almost all residents of Karabakh think the constitutional structure is essential for the country. Over 92% are for the adoption of Constitution as they consider it a landmark on the way to democracy and measure of availability of law and order. 41.4% participating in the poll think the future of the state is the development of the agriculture, both industrial and agricultural future attracts 40.9%. 43.3% think the social economic state of the country has not improved for last two years. 34.3% note a partial improvement in this direction.
