Three killed in explosion in Chambarak village

A gas explosion in a residential building on Tigran Mets Street in Chambarak village has killed three people, officials said. Emergency crews recovered a third body from the rubble as search and rescue operations continue, according to Armenia’s Rescue Service.

Preliminary information suggests the explosion occurred in an apartment on the third floor, causing the collapse of apartments on the fourth, third, and second floors. Some adjacent apartments were also partially destroyed. Several injured residents have been hospitalized.

In response to the incident, Gegharkunik Governor Karen Sargsyan convened an emergency meeting in Chambarak. He ordered the formation of a team to conduct a full assessment of the emerging needs.

The regional administration reported that additional medical staff and ambulances have been dispatched from regional health centers, and construction equipment has been mobilized to support rescue and recovery operations.

At 08:34 on June 11, the Gegharkunik regional emergency management center received a report of a fire in an apartment on Garegin Nzhdeh Street in Chambarak. Two fire and rescue units from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with two specialized rescue teams and canine units, responded to the scene.
