The Russian Embassy in Armenia has informed Russian citizens currently in Iran that they can enter Armenia via the “Nordooz–Agarak” land border crossing. The notice states that the Armenia-Iran border remains open for Russian nationals, and the crossing is possible without prior registration using either international or domestic passports.
The information was published on the embassy’s Telegram channel.
A currency exchange point operates 24/7 inside the “Agarak” customs terminal, within the Ararat Bank branch. The nearest major town, Meghri, is 11 kilometers away, and hosts a VTB Bank branch open on weekdays until 5:00 p.m. (address: Gortsaranyan Street, Building 1), where travelers can exchange currency and use MIR cards.
While there are no regular buses from Meghri to Yerevan, private minibuses depart daily at 7:30 a.m. from the town square. Passengers are advised to book in advance by calling +374-94-811-718 or +374-94-003-462. The fare is 5,000 AMD (approximately $13).
The embassy also noted that taxis from the “Agarak” checkpoint to Yerevan are available.
From Yerevan, there are up to 20 direct flights per day to various Russian cities operated by Aeroflot, Rossiya, Red Wings, S7, Utair, Azimuth, Fly One, Shirak Avia, and others. Russian citizens are advised to closely monitor updates from the embassy, airlines, and travel operators.
Israel and Iran continue to exchange missile strikes multiple times daily. Tel Aviv has vowed to continue its campaign until Iran’s nuclear infrastructure is fully destroyed, while Tehran threatens continued retaliation until Israeli bombardments stop.
