EU deepens ties with Yerevan, says Costa

The European Union is strengthening its relationship with Armenia, aiming to deepen and broaden its partnership with Yerevan.

European Council President António Costa announced this intention during a meeting in Brussels attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

"Brussels is working toward a deeper and broader partnership with Armenia, underlining the EU’s commitment to advancing relations with Yerevan. I hope this meeting propels our efforts," Costa said, as quoted by Armenpress.

He also referenced Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas’s June 29–30 visit to Armenia, stressing that the visit clearly demonstrates progress in EU-Armenia cooperation.

"This meeting also gives us the chance to discuss peace and other developments," added the European Council president.

On July 14, Nikol Pashinyan traveled to Brussels for a working visit to meet with top European Union leadership.
