Wizz Air will suspend all flights to Abu Dhabi starting September 1, redirecting focus toward European markets due to profitability issues.
The airline cited regional instability and harsh climate conditions as major obstacles to maintaining profitable operations in Abu Dhabi.
“The airline’s management has decided to focus on the Eastern and Central European market,” the official statement read.
The current instability in the Middle East played a key role in the decision, with the airline noting that profit prospects have diminished under current conditions.
Additionally, the company said that even without an escalation of regional tensions, operating in Abu Dhabi remains challenging due to extreme weather. High temperatures have accelerated engine wear, reducing operational efficiency.
