EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos is planning an upcoming visit to Armenia to discuss joint initiatives in greater detail and enhance cooperation.
The planned visit was revealed during Kos’s meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, where both sides emphasized the importance of deepening their partnership.
In Brussels, Kos welcomed the Armenian delegation led by Pashinyan and highlighted the value of continued and constructive dialogue with Armenia.
She noted with satisfaction that discussions on the new EU-Armenia partnership agenda have been concluded, with the signing of the agreement scheduled during the next EU-Armenia Partnership Council meeting. Kos reaffirmed the EU’s strong support for Armenia’s ambitious reform agenda and the effective implementation of democratic reforms.
Pashinyan stated he had held productive meetings with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, expressing confidence in the continued growth and deepening of Armenia-EU cooperation across sectors. He emphasized the EU’s role in supporting Armenia’s economic diversification, the development of its transport and infrastructure systems, strengthening small and medium enterprises, and promoting the adoption of EU standards.
The two sides also reviewed ongoing EU-financed initiatives in Armenia and discussed ways to boost economic cooperation. The conversation touched on Armenian government programs addressing the social needs of displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, with Pashinyan underlining the importance of international support in this area.
