No talks happen without raising POW issue, Pashinyan says

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a press conference that the issue of Armenian prisoners held in Baku is consistently addressed during every negotiation.

“There is no negotiation, no conversation where this issue isn’t given proper and necessary attention. Such a thing simply doesn’t exist,” he asserted.

In September 2023, after a nine-month blockade and the ethnic cleansing of the entire Armenian population of Artsakh, Azerbaijan captured former Artsakh Presidents Arkadi Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Arayik Harutyunyan, along with former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, Foreign Minister Davit Babayan, and several other former leaders. They face fabricated charges that could result in life imprisonment. A staged trial against the Artsakh leadership began in Baku on January 17.
