During a press conference, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reaffirmed that the Armenian government “remains committed to unblocking transportation and communication routes in the South Caucasus.” He stressed that all such discussions with Azerbaijan have been, and will continue to be, held strictly within the framework of Armenia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction, Armenpress reports.
He added that this approach aligns with the government’s Crossroads of Peace initiative, which aims to integrate regional connectivity within a clearly defined legal framework.
“Our position is that Armenia is genuinely interested in unblocking transportation routes in the region — including routes from Armenia through Azerbaijan to Armenia, from Azerbaijan through Armenia to Azerbaijan, bilateral trade routes, international transit from Armenia through Azerbaijan to third countries, and vice versa. We continue to demonstrate interest and readiness on this matter.
All our discussions are clearly rooted in Armenia’s sovereignty and legal jurisdiction. This principle underpins all past and future negotiations. We have never held or agreed to any discussion that would contradict or step outside this framework,” Pashinyan said.
Nazeli Baghdasaryan, spokesperson for the Prime Minister, also stated that Armenia addresses regional infrastructure issues solely within the framework of its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction. She denied any talks about delegating control of any part of Armenian sovereign territory to third parties — a response to comments by the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey suggesting the U.S. might lease a section of Armenian land for the proposed “Zangezur corridor.”
