Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said it is more probable that Armenia will withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) than restore its participation in the alliance.
He explained the root of the disagreement between official Yerevan and the CSTO.
“When we shared our concerns with CSTO partners about a potential attack on Armenia, we were assured that Armenia’s border was a red line for them. But during the September events, both formally and informally, we received a surprising response—that it was unclear whether the territory in question belonged to Armenia. That raised the question: where exactly is the red line we were promised?
We asked them to show us where these red lines lie so we could engage with the organization properly, but we still haven’t received an answer,” said Pashinyan.
Back in February 2024, Pashinyan had already stated that Armenia had effectively frozen its CSTO membership. Since then, the country has refrained from taking part in CSTO activities and has stopped paying its membership dues.
