Pashinyan: dissolving ARF consists of both political and legal aspects

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the question of dissolving the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) consists of both political and legal aspects.

Responding to views expressed by members of the ruling Civil Contract party suggesting that the ARF should be shut down in Armenia, he clarified: “A political judgment is a political judgment, but dissolving a party falls within the realm of legal decisions. If sufficient legal grounds are established, it becomes a legal matter, not a political one,” he said during a press conference.

Addressing speculation that the Civil Contract party is undergoing internal restructuring and that only active members will remain, Pashinyan commented that “those who want to stay in the party and for whom there are no grounds for expulsion, remain.”

On the morning of July 10, searches were conducted at the homes of ARF members, after which seven individuals were arrested and taken to Armenia’s Investigative Committee. Most were released within a few days.
