Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, commenting on the recent developments involving clergy, told reporters that living in hypocrisy and artificiality is fundamentally wrong. He stated that in certain cases, the truth must be spoken out loud and pursued accordingly.
“What has been ignored for a long time due to various circumstances must, sooner or later, come to light. In many cases, this hypocrisy and artificiality must indeed come to an end,” Avinyan said.
When asked whether he would join the group that, according to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, would lead the process of “freeing the Catholicosate from the Catholicos,” Avinyan replied, “I believe everyone will do their job where they are.”
During a press conference, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that “the Catholicosate will be freed the same way Armenia was freed from Serzh Sargsyan in 2018.”
