The COP17 conference, set to take place in Armenia in 2026, will be held from October 18 to 30. Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan announced the dates via his official Facebook page.
“Dear compatriots, I am pleased to share that from October 18 to 30, 2026, our country will host one of the most important global environmental events—COP17. The event will bring together hundreds of representatives from countries worldwide, international organizations, academic circles, and civil society,” Matevosyan wrote.
He noted that Yerevan will become a global platform for discussing biodiversity preservation strategies, forming new commitments, and establishing strategic partnerships for a healthier future for our planet. “This is a unique opportunity for our country to actively participate and take a leading role in shaping international environmental policy,” he stated.
During the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity held in Colombia in 2024, Armenia was selected to host COP17 with 65 votes.
