Petrosyan: we can’t guarantee electricity tariff stability

Romanos Petrosyan, temporary administrator of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), said he cannot guarantee the future direction of electricity tariffs, challenging company owner Samvel Karapetyan’s earlier promise of stable prices for the next decade.

“I can’t guarantee where electricity rates will go. How can anyone predict 10 years ahead when we don’t know what’s coming globally, regionally, or technologically?” Petrosyan told Panorama.am .

He speculated that in two years, a breakthrough could halve electricity costs. While not ruling out future changes, he pledged that pricing would remain grounded in real, objective indicators, reflecting ENA’s performance, economic management, and fair returns for investors, all subject to approval by the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC).

“There will be no manipulation, hidden calculations, distortions, or corrupt decisions—at least not on my watch,” Petrosyan said.

Previously, he declared that ENA deputy director Davit Ghazinyan must step down for his role in the company’s decline. Ghazinyan has refused to resign.
