Artsakh speaker: return depends on strong Armenia

Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, Ashot Danielyan, emphasized that "no one can take away the right of return from the people of Artsakh," and that no authority has the right to declare the Artsakh issue resolved.

He added that the return to Artsakh "depends on a strong and powerful Armenia," reports Pastinfo.

“The last official space we have in Armenia is the building of the Artsakh Representation. Any citizen of Artsakh who faces difficulties dealing with Armenian state bodies often turns to our office. We have staff there who provide various forms of support, including legal assistance,” Danielyan said.

He noted that their activities are strictly limited to protecting the rights of Artsakh Armenians and that they do not interfere in Armenia’s internal politics.

Addressing claims that a “state within a state” is being created, Danielyan rejected the notion as baseless and entirely unrealistic.

“This characterization doesn’t reflect reality. It’s best not to even bring it up, because there’s no foundation behind it. We act in accordance with Armenian law, live in Armenia, consider the regional context around Armenia, and would never allow our actions to harm the country. We have always said that our return depends on a strong and powerful Armenia, and we must do everything we can to help Armenia prosper,” Danielyan stressed.

On July 17, the Belgian House of Representatives adopted a resolution condemning Azerbaijan’s military aggression against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and violations of international law. The resolution states that Azerbaijan’s actions contradict fundamental principles of international law. Lawmakers emphasized that lasting peace in the region is only possible if Armenia and Azerbaijan mutually respect each other’s territorial integrity.
