ENA acting director dismissed from post

Davit Ghazinyan, acting executive director of the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), has been dismissed from his post. The information was confirmed by company spokesperson Natalia Sarjanyan, according to Armenpress.

Previously, Romanos Petrosyan, recently appointed interim manager of ENA, had urged Ghazinyan to submit a resignation letter, warning that his first official order would otherwise be Ghazinyan’s dismissal.

Petrosyan also stated that no mass layoffs are currently planned within the company.

On July 3, Armenia’s National Assembly adopted a legislative package in the second and final reading, introducing amendments to the “Law on the Public Services Regulatory Commission” and the “Energy Law,” which concern the nationalization of ENA.

Earlier, on June 18, just hours before the arrest of ENA owner Samvel Karapetyan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared that it was time to nationalize the company. He warned that employees opposing the move would be subject to dismissal. On June 24, authorities announced that a nationalization plan had been finalized.

On July 18, it was revealed that the Public Services Regulatory Commission appointed former head of the State Supervision Service Romanos Petrosyan as ENAs interim manager. Based on a government report, the commission also launched an administrative proceeding against the company.
