Opposition MP summoned to prosecutor’s office

Armen Gevorgyan, a member of Armenia’s National Assembly from the Hayastan faction, and members of his family have been summoned to the Department for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The summons follows the completion of a report related to an investigation into their assets. The notification was posted on the website azdarar.am.

The invitees include Gevorgyan’s wife, two sons, daughter, and parents. They are required to appear on July 24.

"Guided by Articles 16 and 17 of the Law on Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property, I inform you that a study concerning your assets has been conducted by the Department for Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia. As a result, a summary report has been prepared. You have the right, within one month from receiving this notice, to appear at the above-mentioned department (address: 50 Tigran Mets Ave., Yerevan) to review the case materials, present your position, and submit a declaration," the official notice reads.

On June 3, Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee announced that former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan is accused of laundering approximately 5 billion drams.
