An international arbitration tribunal has ruled in favor of businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan and his family, blocking the Armenian government from continuing efforts to nationalize Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA).
The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce Emergency Arbitration, acting under a 1995 Armenia–Cyprus investment protection agreement, ordered Armenia to halt further actions following recent legislative changes.
The tribunal cited serious concerns about Armenia's compliance with its international obligations and warned that without immediate protection, the Karapetyans could suffer irreparable harm.
