Attorney Hovhannes Khudoyan, representative of Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, announced that four additional lawsuits have been filed on the grounds of insult and defamation. He shared this on his Facebook page.
The new cases target Petros Ghazaryan, Davit Khudatyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, and Hasmik Hakobyan.
Previously, the Archbishop had filed lawsuits against former head of the State Oversight Service and current interim manager of the Electric Networks of Armenia, Romanos Petrosyan, and Civil Contract parliamentary faction member Arsen Torosyan. He is demanding 3 million drams from each—1 million for defamation and 2 million for insult.
Earlier reports stated that Archbishop Galstanyan had filed lawsuits against Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan, MP Vahagn Aleksanyan of the Civil Contract faction, and several other public figures. He demands 6 million drams from Aleksanyan and 3 million each from Avanesyan, Republic Party leader Aram Sargsyan, party council member Ani Khachatryan, former MP Styopa Safaryan, and political analyst Harutyun Mkrtchyan. Anahit Avanesyan has announced plans to file a collective countersuit against Archbishop Bagrat.
