At the latest operational meeting of Yerevan City Hall, it was reported that 40 emergency and 13 planned electricity outages occurred over the past week. No power supply fluctuations were recorded.
Mayor Tigran Avinyan inquired about the ongoing project with the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), specifically its progress in the downtown area. His advisor, Kamo Areyan, responded that the investment program is proceeding as approved at the start of the year. There have been no interruptions or deviations, he added.
The project covers both the city center and the wider capital, involving substation upgrades, cable replacements, and subsequent substation renovations. According to Areyan, approximately 20–30% of this year’s goals for the city center have already been completed.
ENA’s interim manager, Romanos Petrosyan, recently noted that Armenia’s electric infrastructure is in poor technical condition and, in some cases, unfit for continued operation.
On July 23, businessman Samvel Karapetyan’s legal team announced a victory in an emergency arbitration case against the Armenian government. In response, the government emphasized the importance of adhering to both national legislation and international treaties governing the recognition and enforcement of arbitration rulings.
Earlier, on July 18, Armenia’s Public Services Regulatory Commission launched proceedings against ENA, appointing Romanos Petrosyan—former head of the State Supervision Service—as interim manager. He has since implemented staff changes in the company’s leadership.
