The Prosecutor General of Armenia has filed lawsuits with the Anti-Corruption Court against the Artashat community, challenging land sale contracts made with the wife and son of former National Assembly Speaker and former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. One lawsuit concerns the annulment of a contract signed between Argam Abrahamyan and the Mkhchyan community; the other targets a contract between Julieta Abrahamyan and the same community, reports Sputnik Armenia.
Prosecutors have declared three decisions by the Mkhchyan community head unlawful. These decisions, they claim, led to the illegal transfer of three land plots belonging to the reserve land fund — measuring 8.9 hectares, 7.2 hectares, and 4,092 square meters, respectively — without legal grounds.
According to the findings, Argam Abrahamyan now owns a total of 16.1 hectares, and Julieta Abrahamyan holds the 4,092-square-meter plot. The deals took place in 2003 and 2004.
Regarding one case involving Argam Abrahamyan — where prosecutors seek to annul a 2004 land auction in Mkhchyan — the initial filing was made with the Administrative Court. However, that court declined to review the case, stating it pertains to private civil law. The Anti-Corruption Court disagreed.
Due to the disagreement between courts, Anti-Corruption Court Judge Karapet Badalyan decided on July 23, 2025, to refer the case to the Court of Cassation, which will determine the competent jurisdiction.
