Case info on Archbishop Bagrat to reach diplomatic channels

Archbishop Bagrat’s legal team has filed a motion to the investigator seeking permission to publish details of the pre-trial investigation that are currently accessible to the defense. This was announced by defense team member Hovhannes Khudoyan on his Facebook page.

He stated that from now on, key information related to the case will also be shared with diplomatic missions in Armenia.

“Considering the Investigative Committee’s one-sided and incomplete information dissemination under the pre-trial secrecy framework, we submitted a motion today to allow disclosure of the information available to the defense.

The Investigative Committee published edited recordings in which the content was clearly distorted—especially when compared with materials submitted to Parliament by the Prosecutor General.

While we initially allowed for the slight possibility that this was due to haste or insufficient awareness, it became clear that after receiving objections about the inaccuracies, the Committee continued to distribute the English version of the edited recordings without any amendments.

This proves the goal is not only to mislead Armenian society but also to present manipulated propaganda—never legitimate legal content—to the international community.

Henceforth, essential information on the case will also be shared with diplomatic representations in Armenia,” the post states.

On the morning of June 25, law enforcement agencies carried out searches at the homes of Sacred Struggle movement supporters. The Investigative Committee claimed that members and leaders of the movement had planned terrorist acts and attempts to seize power in Armenia. Later, it was announced that Archbishop Bagrat, the movement’s leader, was arrested for two months. Fourteen other individuals were also detained.
