National Assembly Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan responded on Facebook to former President Robert Kocharyan’s recent interview, stating that the people will reject those who wish to sacrifice Armenia’s independence.
According to Rubinyan, "Kocharyan's sole political purpose is to absolve the two well-known parties that violated every clause of the November 9 declaration and place all blame on Armenia. This has long been obvious. Incidentally, Serzh Sargsyan, the chronic Levon supporters, oath-breakers of various calibers, and multi-passport oligarchs are doing the same."
"But fortunately, people have seen everything and understand it all. Our people will always stand by their country and reject those who wish to offer up Armenia’s independence as a sacrifice," Rubinyan wrote.
In his interview, Kocharyan had claimed that only Russia can restrain Azerbaijan and Turkey. Regarding the ongoing discourse about the so-called “Zangezur Corridor,” he called it “a masterpiece of diplomatic failure,” saying the issue should have ended with the surrender of Artsakh. He argued that by allowing the topic to persist, Armenia has made its territory the subject of foreign negotiation—while the U.S. discusses it with Turkey, and Turkey with Azerbaijan, Armenia remains absent from the conversation. “This is the scenario where you're not at the table, you're on the menu,” Kocharyan had said.
