According to media expert Samvel Martirosyan, there was no notable spike in Google searches related to Armenia during Jennifer Lopez’s recent concert in Yerevan. Speaking to Sputnik Armenia, Martirosyan noted that the term “Armenia” was searched more during the Vardavar holiday than on the day of Lopez’s performance.
“We should keep in mind that Jennifer Lopez is now a second-tier star, and this was just a stop on her tour. She’s going from city to city, country to country—it’s not like this was her final performance that the whole world would focus on. Only Armenian users and members of Armenia’s government were really fixated on the concert,” Martirosyan explained.
He also mentioned that Kim Kardashian’s visit to Armenia in the past generated significantly more search interest globally.
“There has never been such high numbers, except during moments like the war or after the release of The Da Vinci Code, when a scene mentioned Armenia,” he said.
Martirosyan added that aside from rare instances like these, Armenia has struggled to gain positive traction in international media, while neighboring Georgia has been more successful due to its flexible approach.
American singer Jennifer Lopez performed in Yerevan on August 3 as part of her Up All Night tour, which includes stops in multiple cities and countries.
