MP: geopolitical power centers pursuing their own agendas

Armenian MP Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the I Have Honor parliamentary faction, commented on his Facebook page regarding the document expected to be signed in Washington between Yerevan and Baku under the mediation of U.S. President Donald Trump. He wrote that “the difference is that in 2020 the third party was Moscow, and now it is Washington.”

He added that geopolitical power centers are pursuing their own agendas, while Armenia’s leadership is merely waiting to see what will be decided for them.

“Through leaks, interviews, and commentaries, the developments expected in Armenia’s territory are being hinted at from all sides, yet the authorities continue to maintain stone silence.

This is probably to prepare for later stories that will spread, claiming someone was blindfolded, taken to the U.S., put in a basement, held at gunpoint, and made to sign a paper.

The difference is that in 2020 the third party was Moscow, and now it is Washington.

Geopolitical centers are resolving their own issues, a new distribution of roles is taking place in the region, while Armenia’s leadership is simply waiting to understand what will be done with them,” his post reads.

On August 8, U.S. President Donald Trump will host Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the White House. Separate meetings will be followed by a trilateral meeting. Trump has announced that Pashinyan and Aliyev will formally conclude a peace agreement, with other documents also to be signed.
