Armenia, Azerbaijan FMs sign OSCE Minsk Group closure appeal

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, have initialed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan” in Washington.

Under the arrangement reached with Azerbaijan, the initialed version of the agreement is set to be published on the evening of August 11.

The ministers also signed a joint request to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) calling for the termination of the work of the OSCE Minsk Group and related structures.

Writing on X, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan described the moment as “truly historic for peace.”

“A significant and symbolic day for the Republic of Armenia, the region, and the world. Today we also declare stronger interconnectedness, prosperity, and a better future for our generations,” Mirzoyan posted.

Earlier, during a trilateral meeting at the White House between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration was signed summarizing the outcomes of the Washington talks.
