Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the documents signed following the trilateral meeting in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as a historic event.
“Today we can say that peace is established, and it is established within the framework of our countries’ sovereignty, territorial integrity, and jurisdiction,” Pashinyan said, as reported by Aysor.am .
He stressed that Armenia is now being unblocked.
“This is a landmark event. Armenia will gain billions, bringing a new layer of security,” he stated.
“We have gone through hell together, and I am confident that all citizens of Armenia will unite around the peace agenda, which will be no less important a revolution for our country’s future. Glory to the martyrs, long live the Republic of Armenia,” Pashinyan added.
On August 8, during the trilateral meeting at the White House between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, a joint declaration was signed summarizing the results of the Washington talks. In Washington, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in the presence of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the U.S., also initialed the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
