Armenian Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan has commented on the interim report by Fitch Ratings regarding the implications of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process.
The report notes that the risk of renewed conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has decreased. A potential peace agreement is expected to support Armenia’s creditworthiness in the medium term, boost trade via alternative routes through Turkey, and contribute to broader economic development across the region.
“Fitch has effectively reaffirmed our forecasts that reduced geopolitical risks will drive economic growth and lessen currency and fiscal volatility in the medium term. These positive trends open new avenues for attracting international investment and enhance Armenia’s credibility. We are awaiting responses from other agencies as well,” Hovhannisyan was quoted by Armenpress as saying.
