The government has approved a project for the major renovation of the administrative and repair buildings of Yerevan Electric Transport CJSC, located in the Shengavit district of Yerevan. The project will be financed with 955 million drams.
The buildings, constructed in the 1950s, have never undergone major renovation and are now in an emergency state. Their external tiling is heavily damaged, the roof is broken, and rainwater leaks inside, making the maintenance of vehicles not only difficult but also hazardous.
“The estimated cost of the renovation project is about 1.15 billion drams, but the contract sets the total at 955 million drams. Of this, 936.8 million will be allocated for building renovation, 11.9 million for technical supervision, and 6.5 million for design supervision. The municipality and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure emphasize that renovation is crucial not only for safety but also to provide the required technical base for servicing newly imported trolleybuses and electric buses,” the project states.
Funding will come from proceeds of state property privatization, meaning the project will not add a burden to the state budget.
