Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan stated that as a member of the cabinet, she too is part of the government and sees no contradiction with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statement that “I am the government.”
“We, the members of the government, are indeed members of the government, and the Prime Minister is the head of that government,” she told reporters when asked to comment on the remark, Panorama.am reports.
Galyan noted that the constitutional roles of the government members and its leader are clearly defined, and she warned against manipulative interpretations.
When reminded that the Prime Minister had explicitly said, “I am the government,” Galyan responded: “I am also the government, in a way. There is metaphor in that statement, because I am a member of the government, and so are other ministers. Collectively, we all form the government.
I am part of the cabinet; we are a political team that came to power. Our words, thoughts, and actions must align, and that is exactly what the Prime Minister’s statement reflects.”
On August 28, during a post-cabinet press briefing, Prime Minister Pashinyan said: “I am the government. No one can hold a position contradicting mine. If there are people in the government who do, they should resign and leave immediately. If not, I will remove them myself.”
