Emma Palyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, said she sees nothing unusual in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent declaration: “I am the government.”
“What is wrong with what Nikol Pashinyan said? Yes, he is the government, elected by the citizens of Armenia,” Palyan stated, as reported by Aysor.am .
She also expressed confidence that Pashinyan has brought genuine peace to the country.
“It’s a reality now. Don’t you see that peace? There are no shootings at the border today,” she told reporters.
According to Palyan, in just ten months, citizens will confirm their support for peace through the ballot box.
“I am confident that Civil Contract will win the majority of the votes,” she added.
Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan also commented, saying that as a member of the government, she considers herself part of it and sees no contradiction in the prime minister’s statement.
On August 28, during a post-cabinet meeting briefing, Prime Minister Pashinyan said: “I am the government. No one can have a position that contradicts mine. If there are people in the government who disagree with my stance, they should resign and leave the building immediately. Otherwise, I will remove them myself.”
In response, Armenian National Congress Vice-Chair Levon Zurabyan has filed a lawsuit against Pashinyan over the “I am the government” remark.
