Government approves new governors for Lori and Armavir

During a government session, Aren Mkrtchyan, who had recently resigned his parliamentary mandate, was appointed governor of Lori Province. Vahram Khachatryan, the former head of Metsamor community, was appointed governor of Armavir Province.

Both officials expressed gratitude to the government. Mkrtchyan pledged to work actively for Lori’s development, while Khachatryan thanked cabinet members for their trust.

The Lori governorship had been vacant since June 2, when former governor Aram Ghazaryan was appointed police chief. Mkrtchyan’s parliamentary mandate passed to Vanik Ohanyan. Vahram Khachatryan, once a member of the Republican Party of Armenia, announced his departure from the party in 2018 after Nikol Pashinyan came to power.
