Karen Andreasyan, Armenia’s newly appointed Representative for International Legal Matters, met with Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin to discuss a range of important intergovernmental legal issues.
Kopyrkin warmly congratulated Andreasian on assuming his new role and expressed Russia’s readiness to continue joint work on legal matters between the two countries.
Both the representative and the ambassador emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and exchanging views in various formats.
On August 30, Karen Andreasyan, former Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, was appointed as Armenia’s Representative for International Legal Matters. He was appointed following the dismissal of the previous head of the Office for International Legal Affairs. Liparit Drmeyan was removed from the position after Prime Minister Pashinyan declared that “no one can have a stance that contradicts mine” and “I am the government.” Drmeyan had advised the government, as an international legal consultant, to comply with an urgent arbitration ruling concerning the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA).
