Consumer prices rise in Armenia in August

According to data published by the Statistical Committee, Armenia recorded a 3.6% year-on-year inflation rate in August, and a 0.2% increase compared to the previous month.

In August 2025, food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 4.9% compared to the same month in 2024, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.

The period saw price increases in:

  • Rice by 0.7%
  • Beans by 2.1%
  • Bread by 5.1%

Meat prices also went up:

  • Chicken by 1.5%
  • Beef by 2.5%
  • Pork by 10.3%

Sunflower oil saw a 16.8% year-on-year price increase.

Among the most notable changes:

  • Ice cream prices increased by 9.7%
  • Coffee by 13.5%
  • Cocoa by 22.5%

Alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw price hikes of 4.2% and 8.2%, respectively.

Meanwhile, egg prices dropped 5.8% year-on-year but rose 2.8% compared to July.

In the fuel market, gasoline prices increased by 0.1%, and diesel by 0.4% compared to July. However, both declined year-on-year—gasoline by 2.9% and diesel by 2.4%.

Liquefied hydrocarbons such as butane and propane saw a 14.1% monthly drop, and a 27.9% decline from July. Their average monthly price stood at 197.1 drams.

Regarding currency exchange rates, the average Armenian dram exchange rate in August 2025 was 383.2 drams per U.S. dollar, 1.3% lower than the 388.1 drams recorded in August 2024.
