EU envoy visits Tavush, discusses border issues

Magdalena Grono, the European Union’s Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, concluded her visit to Armenia by thanking Armenian partners for important and meaningful discussions. She shared her remarks on X.

During the visit, Grono also traveled to the Tavush region, where she was briefed on the ongoing security and humanitarian challenges.

“It was a very informative visit to Tavush to assess security and humanitarian issues. As a close partner, the EU will continue supporting Armenia and Azerbaijan in achieving lasting peace, with a focus on concrete actions and measures,” she wrote.

In Yerevan, Grono held meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, and other high-ranking officials.

The main topics of the meetings included the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, communication obstacles, the potential for future cross-border cooperation, and the broader prospects for regional integration.

She referred to the Armenia-Azerbaijan agreements reached in Washington as “historic.”

Grono’s visit was part of a regional tour. Before arriving in Armenia, she paid an official visit to Azerbaijan and also traveled to Nakhichevan.
