Torosyan denies rumors of unrest in Labor Ministry

Arsen Torosyan, Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, wrote on Facebook that reports of unrest within the ministry are false and baseless.

“Some media have attempted to create fabricated sensations in the style of ‘yellow press.’ One such example is the claim in the Iravunk daily that a ‘revolt’ is brewing inside the ministry. This does not correspond to reality—in fact, it is simply a lie.

There can be no talk of a ‘stale atmosphere’ in the ministry. The working environment is built on mutual respect and professional standards. Those expecting scandals will be disappointed,” he stated.

Torosyan added that while he avoids unnecessary delays in decision-making, he is also not a supporter of chaotic moves. The ministry’s plans are outlined in the government’s five-year program, which will continue to be implemented consistently.

“The only ‘strict demand’ I have is the continuous improvement of the quality of services provided to citizens,” he said, calling on media outlets to spread real information rather than mislead readers with fake stories.

He also noted with irony: “For the record, I haven’t even held a general staff meeting yet—lies truly have short legs.”

Torosyan, formerly an MP from the ruling Civil Contract faction, had submitted his resignation from parliament before being appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. The post had been held since August 2021 by Narek Mkrtchyan, who has since been appointed ambassador to the United States.
