Deputy Defense Minister Hrachya Sargsyan stated he has no information yet on whether the Ministry of Defense’s allocations will be reduced in Armenia’s 2026 state budget.
Reporters noted that while Azerbaijan continues to increase military expenditures, Armenia does not appear to be expanding its defense budget. In response, Sargsyan stressed that for the past three decades, Azerbaijan’s military spending has exceeded Armenia’s entire state budget several times over, Aysor.am reported.
“If your question is whether we will increase our entire state budget to match Azerbaijan’s defense budget—that will not happen,” the deputy minister said.
He assured that the ministry will continue operating in 2026 under the same logic and approach it followed in 2024 and 2025.
