Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan presented to the parliament’s Defense and Security Committee the draft law on ratifying the “Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Migration between the Government of Armenia and the Government of Kazakhstan.”
The agreement, signed on April 15, 2024, establishes a legal framework for bilateral cooperation in migration management. The parties agreed to create fast and effective procedures based on reciprocity.
The deal envisions:
- exchange of information on migration procedures, statistics, legislation, and methodological issues,
- sharing of experience and practical support in addressing challenges,
- exchange of data concerning citizens of both states residing in the other’s territory.
It also guarantees protection of the residence rights of citizens and their family members, provided they have legal grounds for stay. Issues of legal status will be addressed in accordance with each country’s national laws and international obligations.
All measures will be carried out in line with domestic legislation and binding international agreements.
