On September 4, His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, received participants of the interchurch forum titled “Living the Faith Today: Commemorating the 1700th Anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea”, held in Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin from September 4 to 7.
In his address, the Catholicos emphasized the importance of hosting such interchurch gatherings, highlighting the opportunity they offer for discussing the challenges facing Churches, enhancing cooperation across various spheres, and taking steps to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood.
He expressed satisfaction that the Armenian Church enjoys warm relations with Sister Churches, denominations, and various interchurch organizations.
During the meeting, His Holiness also extended his gratitude to the heads of churches and spiritual leaders for the support and solidarity shown to Armenia and the Armenian people during difficult times.
He answered several questions from attendees concerning interchurch relations.
The interchurch forum has officially launched in the Mother See, dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea. The forum includes representatives from the Armenian Church’s hierarchical sees (Holy See of Cilicia, Armenian Patriarchates of Constantinople and Jerusalem), Sister Churches, various denominations, and interchurch bodies.
In his speech, Catholicos underlined that the Council of Nicaea was a defining event for preserving the Orthodox faith of Christ’s Holy Church and for strengthening its divine mission.
