Former MP warns peace is an illusion, just “silence”

Former MP Arman Abovyan wrote on Facebook that Azerbaijani school textbooks present Armenia as “Azerbaijani land occupied by Russians”.

He stressed that people should realize no real peace has been established, only “a silence—until you are dragged to the Turkish slaughterhouse under the slogan ‘Peace has come.’”

“While you are still being told foolish and unrealistic Turkish fairy tales about so-called peace with anti-Armenian barbarians and murderers, just look at the books they use to educate their children.

I will not share the specific excerpts about Armenia and Armenians, because what you read there—including about those today willing to lick the feet of Turks—will spark anger and disgust.

Now ask those who deceitfully speak of peace from morning till night: how is it that Azerbaijanis consider the entire territory of Armenia, including Yerevan, as ‘Azerbaijani land occupied by Russians,’ while portraying you, peace-loving citizens dreaming of friendship with Azerbaijanis, as a people ‘settled by Russians on native Azerbaijani land’?

I do not say this to make you angry, but so that you understand: peace has not been established, it is only silence—until you are dragged into the Turkish slaughterhouse under cries of ‘Peace has come,’” Abovyan wrote.
