Nairi Sargsyan, head of the “I Am Armenia” political-civic initiative, announced that the group will participate in the 2026 parliamentary elections in the format of a political alliance.
“We must spare no effort and urgently rid ourselves of a government that is undermining Armenia’s foundations and placing bombs under the country on a daily basis,” Sargsyan said during a press conference, according to Panorama.am .
He added that details about the initiative’s political agenda and format of participation will be announced in due course. He emphasized readiness to collaborate with all forces and individuals who oppose the current authorities and share their system of values.
“We will work with anyone whose ideas, values, and programs align with ours and whose real goal is to remove the government that has brought this disaster upon Armenia and is sabotaging it every day,” Sargsyan noted.
He also stressed that no foreign power—neither Russia nor the West—is behind their movement, and that their actions are guided solely by Armenia’s national interest.
“For us, Armenia’s interest is paramount. Our strategic partnerships and future steps are guided by that awareness. We have no alignment with Russia or the West. In fact, Turkey’s influence in Armenia has grown significantly. With a deep understanding of Armenia’s interest, we must move toward real solutions,” he added.
Sargsyan clarified that while the members of the initiative will continue their civic activism, they firmly believe that political solutions are needed.
He also confirmed that the initiative does not intend to transform into a political party.
“We are engaged in political activity. We envision Armenia’s recovery through a professional and technocratic government. Professionals and technocrats often do not want to join parties. A party structure feels alien to our work, so we’ve chosen to operate as an alliance instead,” he explained.
