Armenia, Iran, India hold trilateral talks in Tehran

On September 8, Tehran hosted the third round of political consultations at the level of regional directors general from the foreign ministries of Armenia, India, and Iran. According to Iranian media, the discussions were held by mutual agreement of the parties.

The three countries highlighted the need to expand cooperation and deepen engagement, particularly in transportation through the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC), Armenia’s Crossroads of Peace initiative, and the strategic role of Iran’s Chabahar port, Radar Armenia reports.

They also discussed opportunities to strengthen ties in the economy, trade, culture, and people-to-people contacts, developing strategies for cooperation in these areas.

It was agreed that the next trilateral meeting will be held in Armenia next year.

In 2023, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan instructed the creation of an interagency working group to organize freight transport and open an operational hub in Chabahar. However, the launch of the route has since been postponed.
