The Armenian government has submitted to the National Assembly a legislative package that, according to officials, is pivotal for the development of the country’s higher education and science sectors. The proposal was discussed during a parliamentary session, with the package approved in second reading and in full, Panorama.am reports.
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan said the proposed legislation aims to bring not only fundamental but also structural reforms.
“I am confident that with the adoption of this package, we will be able to establish entirely new conditions for the development of higher education and science,” Andreasyan stated.
MP Sisak Gabrielyan, presenting the package on behalf of the ruling Civil Contract faction, described the changes as “radical and revolutionary.”
“Whatever term you choose—radical, revolutionary—it’s appropriate. A new era is beginning for higher education and science,” Gabrielyan said.
